B.E.L.T

Description - Business, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Training is a hands-on course designed to guide middle school students through the essentials of business and entrepreneurship, using Microsoft programs as practical tools. Throughout the course, students will learn to create and manage various business documents—including budgets, invoices, presentations, and reports—while simultaneously building their understanding of key business concepts. Each lesson integrates terminology, practical exercises, and real-world applications to ensure students can connect Microsoft tools to meaningful business tasks.

In addition to technical skills, B.E.L.T emphasizes entrepreneurial thinking and leadership. Students will explore what it means to be an entrepreneur, examining the benefits, challenges, and broader community impacts of starting a business. They will engage in discussions about innovation, risk management, teamwork, and ethical decision-making to develop a well-rounded perspective on business ownership. Leadership skills will be woven into collaborative projects and class activities, helping students practice communication, problem-solving, and organizational strategies that are essential in any business environment.

The culminating experience of the course involves students creating their own fictional business. They will develop a comprehensive business plan, including mission statements, marketing strategies, financial projections, and operational plans. Finally, students will present and pitch their business ideas to a group of peers or guest investors, applying their skills in document creation, business knowledge, and leadership to a real-world simulation. By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in Microsoft tools, business concepts, entrepreneurial thinking, and leadership skills that will serve them in future academic and personal endeavors.
